Homecoming 2006

First, a few words about homecoming in general.

Saturday morning cartoons. This was a sweet homecoming year. Every class showed incredible caliber. It was just, WOW. I'd like to take an opportunity to give praise to each class (please excuse my language, I'm a very liberal with my vocabulary, but it doesn't mean much).

Class of '10- PLEASE do not feel discouraged about being cut off. You guys made quite a good showing for freshmen. Normally, freshmen, being new to the ways of homecoming, have rocky starts and stops in their play. You guys limited those to as little as possible. Your dances were also pretty good for freshmen. I gotta say, I was especially proud of your boys advanced. Busted out some really good moves there. You still have three more years to make your skit get jiggy wit' it. Class of '10, say fuck yeah with me.

Class of '09- WOW. Son of a bitch, '09. You guys IMPROVED. Your skit had some of the funniest antics I've ever seen in a homecoming skit. Italian mobsters, man. Very sexy costumes. AND VERY SEXY DANCES. Guys adv- kickass, couples- kickass, girls adv- KICKASS. Hehe, probably one of the sexiest dances of this year's homecoming (everyone who knows me will know about this). BACKDROP! Better than the seniors' backdrop, in all honesty. I bow to you for that. The future looks incredibly bright for you, '09, so show the other classes in the next two years just what you can do.

Class of '08- There's a lot of tension in this area. Let me start out by first saying that you guys did an excellent job, just like last year. Your antics were creative, your plot was easy to follow, and very nice casting, guys! If there is any class that I would accept losing to as seniors, it's yours. Your presentation had some incredible caliber, and I'm sure that the judges had a difficult time deciding who to choose for first place.

I've been hearing a lot of talk in '08 about how they deserve it, and how '07 shouldn't have won. You are all entitled to your opinions, I'm not denying you that. I'll admit '07 had their share of sore losers last year, so the sore losers in '08 (which isn't everyone, I know) have some wiggle room from us. I have one request though; please do not go so far as to exaggerate your perspective of the skits by saying that we "sucked" and that you "kicked our ass." You and I know that is a whole bunch of bullshit, and that was most of what pissed us off last year, not entirely the fact that you guys won. I am not hating on the pride that '08 has; in fact, if I were a member of '08, I'd actually have that pride too, hoping to show the seniors that we are good shit. But please be logical too; don't skew everything to put us in a bad light. '08, you may not have won this year, but don't mope; next year you are going to kick some serious ass. Juniors rock the house, guys. Werd.

CLASS OF OH SEVEN!

I may not be a class officer, but this has been the homecoming in which I played an active role in, and I do have some words and thanks.

'07 is not like any other class. For one thing, we tend to be the most disunited, the most apathetic, and the most spiteful. There are more people in our class than any other class who don't really give a crap about homecoming.

But it's those people who do care that make it happen.

Alvin, you did a fucking amazing job with boys advanced. I'll admit I doubted you at first when you said it would be hardcore this year, but wow, you did it. Flips, aerials, beat boxing, pyramids, windmills. Fuck yeah. You've gained the respect of ALL classes for your guys adv. Props.

Sameer Thadani, you go girl. Couples dance was off the heezy. You have some of the most creative ideas ever, with your umbrella. The ending dances elicited so many cheers from the audience. Props dude. You rock my sock (if you know what i mean, jagga jagga jagga). Front entrance was fucking amazing. Haunted house, yo. Three years in a row with an entrance that kicks some serious SHHHH!

Jeremy and Jay, I know it's tough to get a class like ours to forfeit all our other priorities and get together to actually run through the skit. But I'm glad you guys were anal and made us stay a full nine hours on thursday to practice. Thanks for keeping us flakes in line and adapting to all the changes.

Phil and Eric Ho, I wanna apologize for being such a douche about script. When our zombie script didn't get chosen, I was pissed and was telling everyone about how we had an unfunny and confusing script that wouldn't let us win. It was the ego talking. Your guys' script was fine, and after all the edits you made, you made it even more kickass. The fact that we may have not received as many laughs as we hoped was in our presentation, not the script. We shoulda practiced more. Props, guys, and thanks for helping to direct the scenes.

Stacey Li, Michelle Kim, Poonum- Thanks for forfeiting your houses for decorations and such. It's because of dedication like this that every year we kick ass with decorations and backdrop. It didn't matter whether there were like only two people at these decorations meetings, there was always stuff to do. Drawing/painting, getting stuff from outside, etc. Fun times. Props, guys (gals).

VOICERS!!!! Jillian, Michelle, Kevin, Ashwin, Achint, Lois- We were amazing. I'm glad that even if we had a rocky start with attendance to practices and such, we all forfeited our last day to practice with the actors for nine straight hours. It was fun, dudes and dudettes. Props to US.

All Actors- It is a shame that we didn't get to practice as much as we hoped, but that doesn't matter. You ALL were incredible, fitting your roles perfectly. Props for making it happen even in the last couple of days. We may have had some rocky transitions, but your kickass acting during scenes made up for them. Good stuff, guys.

Boys adv- YOU FUCKED UP THE COMPETITION! YEAH! That routine makes up for the past three years of so-so dancing that we've had. You may have actually been the ones to tilt the first place into our favor with your stunning moves. Give yourselves a HUGE pat on your backs, guys, you deserve it after all the hard work you've done.

Girls advanced- I don't know much about this area, or who was involved. But wow, you were sexy. All four of your dances. Giggity giggity goo goo goo. w00t! Props to whoever made this happen.

Couples- I'M YOUR MAN, YOU MY GIRL, AND I'M GONNA TELL IT TO THE WHOLE WIDE WORLD! You guys were probably the best dressed out of all the dancers in the whole skit. Umbrella at the end was so sexy. Good job, guys!

AV technicians- Well done. Again, I'm not sure who was involved in this area, but you made it all happen. Thanks, guys.

AND ALL OF '07:

You proved that we do have what it takes, even after last year's incident. For the first time, we showed an incredible unity and dedication very atypical of what '07 usually is. Thank you all for your time and dedication for helping out with making decorations, painting backdrop, making front entrance, dancing, acting, voicing, editing, directing, ANYTHING. Seniors got the seniors got the SKEET SKEET SKEET.

First place, fools. We've come a long way since freshman year. Remember homecoming 2006, because we kicked some serious SHHHHH!

Can't nobody do it like Oh Seven
Fuckin' up competition 'cause there really is none

Have a bitchin' and sweet senior year, everyone. We've deserved it.

What's going on in my life right now?

Oh yeah, I was supposed to give you that Vegas update wasn't I? Here it is. Nice hotels, nice food, nice stripper ads. Just kidding. Anyway, when you go to Vegas, make SURE you watch the "O" at the Bellagio. 150 dollars per ticket. Worth every single dollar. It's an aquatic show; there's a pool onstage. Sexiest thing I've ever seen.

I made that Stanford summer orchestra that I was talking about. I think 75% of that decision was owed to the fact that my teacher sent the poor conductor a fatty recommendation. It's a pretty small orchestra, only about 25 people, and I doubt many people tried out, let alone knew about it. But wow, everyone in the orchestra is super 1337; we sound pretty darn good. Concert's on July 22nd if you're interested; playing Beethoven's 7th and Vauhan William's "The Lark Ascending".

Working on homecoming shizzle as well. Script is almost done. AND GO TO DECORATIONS MEETINGS. We need all the help we can get.

Remember back in middle school when we actually used xangas to talk about what we did on a daily basis rather than use it for rants/song lyrics/other retarded means?

Hah. Hah. Okay. Go be my friend on myspace. www.myspace.com/vpcombo.

No, this does not mean I'm going to improve on it. I just use it to comment. Did I tell any of you about my bad experience with myspace? Ask me.

Until next time, homies.

Vegas update later.

Friday, June 16, 2006

The Pokalas are going to Vegas!

Getting drunk, meeting whores, gambling the night away!

My parents and brother sure are going to have fun.

I'll probably be at the Excalibur spending the whole time swimming in the pool or reading AP lit books. Gimme a call. 828-4146.

Have a nice weekend!

Hardly working, slacking hard

I love this new lifestyle of getting up at 11 am, practicing violin and watching TV until 6, going out till 11, AIMing till 1, and repeating it all over again.

I'm probably going to cry when de anza classes (and maybe a potential job, fucking jamba juice) start. But seriously, screw that.

Get involved in Homecoming!
